We’re now mobile!

Today we setup a mobile site so that when any visitor ( potential client, friend, my mom… ) visits http://www.davidmacvicar.com on their phone like an iPhone, Blackberry or Android, they are presented with a custom mobile website to view all of our content and photographs! Neat-o.

Our new portfolio website will be unveiled SOOOOON! I am super stoked about this website. It was time to get rid of the template that was owned by probably 5,425,024 photographers across the world. It is incredibly minimalist and its honestly one of the fastest loading photography websites I’ve ever experienced. It works beautifully when gone mobile (think iPhone, iPad, blackberry) and i’m proud to call it my new home on the inter-webs. Best of all, this site was a ground up effort from one very talented guy (and a heck of a photographer ) named Sean McGrath who’s become a really great friend of mine during the whole process. Thanks for all your work on this Sean. More to come soon!

Boutique Wedding Albums

When you choose your wedding package with a custom wedding album, you are receiving the absolute best quality in print reproduction, colour, binding, leather covers, the works. I really have to give all the credit to Willow Paper Works for producing the absolute best albums anywhere. For years I was dealing with American album suppliers because there really wasn’t anything of great quality here in the great white north; enter Willow who have started creating these incredible albums. The binding is so well done. Many other album production company’s cannot even come close to the solid, rigid production of these books. Last but not least, the smell from genuine soft leather is frickin’ awesome!! When you first get your hands on one of these books, you can smell it instantly. If incredible quality was a smell, this would be it!

People’s Mall Studio Location Closing

Hey Everyone!

Just wanted to provide everyone on this page with an important update; I have decided to close our recent studio space in the People’s Mall (Commercial street, Glace Bay). While the space provided the next logical step for my business, I have quickly outgrown it. There were many aspects of that space that did not work well so we decided to close it now while we are ahead.

I have closed this space to think about future expansions. We are already working on a potential space that would be 1000x more productive and attractive to clients (and more central to the downtown core). I want to say thanks to everyone who is following this page, or made any comments; thanks so much for checking out my work. Please stay tuned…the future is bright.

Wedding: Favs of 2009

Here we have it folks! These are our favourite images of 2009! So many great weddings, so many awesome clients, a wealth of awesome images to choose from. All of our clients tell us that our images are always incredibly different from each other; that there is tonnes of variety from wedding to wedding and nothing gets repeated. I take this as the ultimate compliment because every wedding is different and the imagery should reflect that. 2009 has been the best year yet, and we are ready for 2010! Thanks so much for all your support and putting your faith in our creativity, and giving us that control to shoot it as we see it.

Teach Me Photography! 2010 Photo Course

Digital Photography Classes… Beginner (basics, principles, theory)…Intermediate (shooting images, making theory practical) and Advanced ( Digital Processing, workflow, photoshop)….

Anyone interested? Looking to generate a list of interested people before I move forward on this! Classes would be in my Glace Bay Studio in the evenings and reasonably priced! I’ve always loved teaching, and I live photography so the two go hand in hand!

Today I met Brobee!!! Amazing! Thanks so much to the local community for putting together this incredible event for our children and families; big thanks to Sheldon Nathanson Barristers and Solicitors as well for making dreams come true for so many children. I saw alot of hugs today, it felt amazing!
